Throw a bake sale if you like to cook. Choose classic recipes that are easy to make in big batches like chewy chocolate chip cookies, fudgy brownies, or vanilla cupcakes. Once you bake everything, separate your goodies into individual servings and place them in pretty packages like treat bags tied with ribbons. Set up a stand in your front yard or out on the street corner to get more traffic.
Conventionally when we looked to start a business within the offline world, we could expect to spend $10,000’s just to get our foot in the door (and that is without any marketing).  You can get absolutely EVERYTHING you need to create and manage your business from scratch…no experience necessary for $359 per year ($29 per month) at Wealthy Affiliate.
I have joined WA last week (premium) but yes in a few days i can agree with you totally. The hosting is pointless as its so limited, can’t use many wordpress essential plugins as they claim it affects there hosting! Also i like to tinker and geek out, and when you have no access to your own CPanel or database etc it’s so restrictive. Also i dont trust WA with my sites, however much i put into them, they are not mine. They are sat on WA, so yes im still using my own hosting package.
I agree with EVERY WORD you say here. Having been a member of WA who was acttively trying to mentor new members I discovered that WA mentorship actually does not exist. Not one person who I asked at WA knew who their mentor was, let alone got ANY help from them. Whenever I contacted my up line mentor the reply I always got was the standard reply as above.

Anyone who knows how to search for things on Google can uncover more useful information, and in less time, than interacting with the WA support community, which means the only useful things you have access to are the training vids which are passable, but not fantastic. The other selling point with going premium is the higher referral fee, but what good is that if you only sell a handful of WA memberships per year?
There is nothing that I mentioned here that is not true. Mind you, I just noticed that you have been a Wealthy Affiliate member for a short period of time. WA is not a get rich quick scheme, you’ll need to invest, be hardworking and work towards your goals. All that takes time. Don’t tell me that sharing my story how I struggled for 11 months is promising people easy money. No!
WA is a decent program. It’s no magic bullet solution for making money online, but it provides members with a simple road map for how to go from zero to making a couple of bucks. For a guy like me, it doesn’t have a lot to offer beyond providing me with some warm fuzzies I get from helping some of the noobs out, but I think for anyone looking for an easy-to-follow means of understanding IM, it could be a good value.

Basically, anyone who is looking to make money fast should stay away from Wealthy Affiliate. There are plenty of “make money fast” e-books and courses out there, and they are all a scam (trust me). While Wealthy Affiliate is legit, they will absolutely never claim that they teach you how to make money fast. Building a legitimate online business takes time.
Hi and thanks for sharing your experiences with Wealthy Affiliate. I agree with your points about the great coaching and the huge value for money that they offer you is unbeatable. They give you such a great confidence that they can teach you to be a successful affiliate marketer, and the community style support you have access to is truly a special benefit. Thanks again, Kenny
You also should not join Wealthy Affiliate if you don’t enjoy the community / social aspect of it. A huge part of Wealthy Affiliate is the ability to communicate with other members. It’s a “help and be helped” community. If you have no interest in setting up your profile, asking questions, supporting others, chatting in the live chat sessions, or doing any sort of participation, you will not get the full benefit of the service.
A few of the things that I really love about WA are the fact that you can connect and get help very easily. I also enjoy using their SiteRubix platform, it is very easy to build websites and I come from a Joomla background and I most likely won’t be going back. It is too simple and feature rich to use the website builder and all of the extra tools that one with it.
Blogging is something that requires patience, persistence and discipline. It may mean writing everyday for over a year before you really start to see any money from it. There are exceptions to the rule, but from my dealings with other bloggers, it seems to be pretty common to spend one or even two years building your blog, your brand and your authority, before making any serious amount of money.
Individual sellers and companies offering products or services have to deal with their consumers and ensure they are satisfied with what they have purchased. Thanks to the affiliate marketing structure, you’ll never have to be concerned with customer support or customer satisfaction. The entire job of the affiliate marketer is to link the seller with the consumer. The seller deals with any consumer complaints after you receive your commission from the sale.
Once you've protected your prospecting pool, maximize your affiliate program by working with the best and leaving the rest. As the old 80/20 adage implies, most of your revenue will come from a very small percentage of your affiliates. Because it can be time-consuming to manage a larger affiliate network, consider selecting only a few companies initially, and interview them before signing them on. Affiliates are an extension of your sales force and represent your online brand, so choose partners carefully.
Check with your local bank to see if they're giving away cash bonuses for opening up accounts. Banks run promotions like this all the time, so grab some real cash quickly if you're in need. It won't break the bank (no pun intended) but it will give you a quick $50 or $100 -- maybe even more -- when you really need it. You might need to deposit a minimum amount of cash (usually in the thousands) in order to qualify for these types of accounts (but not always).
With Wealthy Affiliate, you have community support available to you 24/7. In the time of instant gratification, members also love the Live Chat, which gives you access to a platform where you can ask questions and get answers immediately. There is also instant search option that enables you to search any desired topic, and information will be retrieved from various areas of training, discussions boards, blogs, video materials and more.
You could easily do home organizing for people, an industry that has gained a lot of popularity since the debut of Netflix's hit series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. If you're a tidy and organized person yourself, and you're good at organizing spaces, why not offer your services to people around you? You'd be surprised at how many people, even on your own social media feed, might take you up on doing something like this.

This sounds like exactly what I am looking for, Tony. Yours is by far the best review of an affiliate opportunity that I have ever read — it has caught my attention and fired me up! I am a published audiobook narrator/independent publisher who writes my own marketing content 🙂 My goal (also with my audiobooks) is to build a strong residual income – and I came across your amazing review of WA through a search I conducted yesterday.
Just a slight correction, Eurgene. I didn’t actually cancel my membership, I just simply had my write access taken away. Technically I am still a member and I still receive monthly commissions for the small number of Premium referrals I still have, which has been steadily declining and is now at just two members. I am on a yearly membership, though, and that runs out soon, so I might cancel then.
Legitimacy. If you are searching online for a way to make “quick money” you will end up sorting through numerous scams. Between upfront scams and up-sells down the road, it is extremely difficult to find a legitimate online business opportunity. Wealthy Affiliate is a transparent, SCAM-FREE program that provides all the tools you need to be successful, without up-sells.
In most blogs I usually skip the post to the end. But your post is one in a million, so I read it from start to finish. I was a member of Wealthy Aff (2007 – 2010, then 2013 -2014). 110% agree with you. It seems that not just the sales letter but thousands of WA members are over praising WA all over the internet, like it will make people money 100% guarantee, while in most cases that just isn’t true. The main method is SEO and thanks to G Panda and Penguin getting ranking takes months and even more time to produce first sale. While it is a good place for beginners, since they walk you through steps like WordPress and important SEO techniques, but it will take time, perhaps years to see result. Which is a problem since WA charges monthly for their training. New members could spend over $500 on WA membership before seeing their first check. Also, I agree with you with the WA Bootcamp part. It misled newbies to promoting back WA while they still fail to make the money. I tried promoting WA myself and it was very hard to make even one sale and even worse, that referral only stayed for 3 months and then cancel his membership. That time I already have experience and made money in other niches. Despite all that, over 100,000++ websites on the internet a promoting WA, especially review sites like onemorecupof-coffee. Those review sites kept bashing other legitimate products like Bring The Fresh and recommending the readers to go for WA instead.
2018 TL;DR Update: DO NOT promote Wealthy Affiliate. Sign up for a free trial, engage with the community and learn what you can before your access expires, but DO NOT GO PREMIUM. They are selling a fantasy built on a dying business model which serves only to benefit (no surprise here…) the founders of Wealthy Affiliate. You can glean some value from the trial, but do not invest in their training and by all means do not even consider building out any sites using their proprietary services. If you want to know why, then read on…
Highly competitive: If you can’t generate traffic, you don’t make any sales. This is the biggest challenge. When everyone can sign up for these affiliate offers for free (very low barrier for entry), now you have a situation where there is a boatload of competition for most affiliate opportunity out there. Unless you use paid traffic, most people get traffic from building a website and ranking it in Google, which is what Wealthy Affiliate teaches, but the problem is there’s only 10 spots on the first page of Google. & you have to compete for those spots with thousands of affiliates around the world.

I agree with all the points you have mentioned. Talking about zero upsells, for instance, the best thing online, is setting aside a budget, and being able to respect that budget without exploding it. This is the amazing part about Wealthy Affiliate. You can plan 2,3,or even 4 years in advance and that budget will still be very relevant and applicable.

Wealthy Affiliate has existed since 2005, so they’ve been around for a long time. However, they have never once increased their price, even though every year they add new features. Wealthy Affiliate has never been as helpful or advanced as it is today, and the “help and be helped” community has never been bigger. If you’ve been putting off joining Wealthy Affiliate, now is the absolute best time to join the community.
The 1.4 million members figure doesn’t even make any sense. If WA had 1.4 million active users it would be totally unusable. The “classrooms” there would just be far too busy to keep track of. And aren’t all members automatically set to follow Kyle? According to his WA profile, he has 365,319 friends. So there are 1,034,681 members that don’t follow Kyle?
Thanks for your insights. It is unfortunate that some companies/people behave like this, but in this industry there are a lot of unethical folks. Fortunately now that you are part of WA, you are part of the most trusted, ethical, forward thinking, and community focused platform in the industry. You are not going to regret your decision to make Wealthy Affiliate your home.
(next to homeless, but when I chose to put my change , at the corner store, into a machine, I won. Ran to get a mobile phone and service, signed up for task apps and searched to find that online path..thay search introduced me to WA and the fun idea of my winning my opportunity lol sounded fun to me. Haha..) I wish I had read your information prior to purchasing 2 domain names.but cant pass up an opportunity tio share , just in case theres someone who can relate to the good point you made Regarding those of us who have less , at the moment. WA can add to your knowledge, howrver, things dont move any faster with premiun membersgip, so, I agree on holding back.before making that purchase. Because it doesnt feel all that wonderful when you purchase a domain, only to lose it. Its harder to get into the “better to have loved and lost than…” theme when it concerns the loss of your “online real estate. Anyhow thank you for the information, it helps me to feel less of the “coulda woulda shoulda’s. (Ha)
Refinish old furniture from thrift stores, yard sales, or online ads. Sand down the furniture to smooth out the surfaces and buff off some of the old paint or stain. If you want to restain it, use a lacquer or paint thinner to remove the stain. Then, re-stain the piece. If you plan to repaint it, apply a primer and let it dry. Next, apply at least 2 coats of paint, letting each coat dry for at least 24 hours. If necessary, add new hardware to finish the piece.[13]

Spam is the biggest threat to organic search engines, whose goal is to provide quality search results for keywords or phrases entered by their users. Google's PageRank algorithm update ("BigDaddy") in February 2006—the final stage of Google's major update ("Jagger") that began in mid-summer 2005—specifically targeted spamdexing with great success. This update thus enabled Google to remove a large amount of mostly computer-generated duplicate content from its index.[33]

The question is how much can you make within the Intenret business world. The answer is, as much as you want. Wealthy Affiliate is less of an “opportunity” and more of an all-inclusive environment where you can create and grow a business online…and do so to any level. Everything is included that you need to create your business, and managed it. Really the only missing piece is you and a bit of hard work and dedication.
The learning something new that someone brought up, but it’s a lot to pay for, and most of these people don’t validate anything-oh they made money? Wow, is it consistent, did you work hard at it, promote something other than WA and bait and switch people and what not. Those are behind the scenes, and even if some people have had success, it’s through WA boot camp, and they spend forever doing it. I’m sticking around for more comments to post/pages and a couple other things, but yeah I though about that already. Only time will tell right?
On WA coaching material there is no separate indexing of the "lessons".  A point missed can be found again but not by going through any master index which would be crossreferencing ideas & locations...thus depriving us of a a way to get back to where ideas are first presented in the training. Without that we are forced to stumble through videos again and again which is very frustrating & time consuming activity or we must ask people instead. This flaw in the training presentation makes me wonder if the clumsier and slower learning which might result...is as "rewarding" to the CEO (in the form of longer lasting subscriptions) as is is "punishing" to the member?
I’ve been spending over 2 hours reading most of the comments. Great content really although it didn’t really get me any further. I got a yearly paid membership and at least I’ll finish it. Craig, you’ve said since 2015 up to this year you’d write an article about “the alternatives” of WA and sure, you seem like a great guy, but when will i get to read this article? duhh. Some disgusting practices of WA are a huge turn off now but I’m kind of a slow learner and having a community and a step by step way to learn to start an affiliate website is bringing me “from nowhere to finally somewhere” and if you know any platform with a community that can do that better than them then I’d be glad to know which one. Of course thanks to you and other comments I now lower my expectations and know that the faster i’ll be done with the basic there and then feel more self-confident the quicker I’ll leave and go for something more authentic and efficient but what exactly would that be?
For example, when I first started back in 2009, I learned from a service called Solo Build It. I knew absolutely nothing about building an online business, let alone what “affiliate marketing” even meant. However, they changed my life and taught me how to build money-making websites online, which is what I’ve been doing with my life ever since. This is another great service to consider and you can read my review of Solo Build It here.

Sell things to pedestrians. Entrepreneurial sorts sell things like cold drinks on hot days or hot nuts in winter. This method can be especially lucrative if you set up a spot near a sporting event, park, etc. You’ll need to have a small amount of money to invest in the product, but then you can sell it at a much higher return and make some quick cash.
